Green Party US Peace Action Committee Says “No to Netanyahu!”
The Green Party US Peace Action Committee (GPAX) decries the Prime Minister of Israel’s visit to the United States, the third visit since Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2025. Even if the visit is to discuss the approval of a ceasefire in Gaza, Netanyahu is wanted as a war criminal by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in warrants issued on November 21, 2024. A ceasefire now, after 21 months of genocide, will not erase the war crimes committed by Netanyahu, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) and US complicity in these actions. Legally, Netanyahu could and should be arrested for these war crimes and taken to the Hague to be tried for the extermination of a people, for using hunger as a weapon, and more.
GPAX remembers the last time Netanyahu was in the U.S. He addressed a joint session of the US Congress on July 24, 2024 and received an eight minute standing ovation at the beginning, followed by nearly 50 standing ovations after that in a 52 minute speech. This acclamation, rather than condemnation or arrest, demonstrates the complicity of the US Congress in the ever mounting number of atrocities engineered in Gaza by the IOF, with the full backing of the US.
“Frankly, it’s embarrassing for the U.S. to welcome this war criminal with open arms,” said Madelyn Hoffman, co-chair of GPAX. “The U.S., under both mainstream political parties, has shown itself to be deeply complicit in this 22-month genocide! Sending weapons and money to Israel continues to be supported by both mainstream political parties. We call for an arms embargo, permanent ceasefire and an end to the occupation now!”
As the death toll in Gaza and the illegally occupied West Bank continues to rise, the movement to end the genocide continues to grow. As Israel continues to expand its aggression with an unprovoked attack on Iran, international calls to re-examine relationships with Israel continue to threaten Israel’s impunity and to call for an end to the continued slaughter on all fronts.
GPAX continues to assert that the world faces a global and local environmental crisis and the ever-looming crisis of World War III, with the accompanying risk of the use of nuclear weapons.
Patricia C Vener-Saavedra, also a GPAX member, added, “As a Jew I am disgusted that Netanyahu’s horrific actions are claimed to be made for my safe future. As a human being I am ashamed to recognize him as the same species. He clearly never learned anything about being a Jew, but only how to be a deranged killer like the Nazis of the 1930s and 1940s. He threatens the future of us all.”
